The Social Economy covers business and economic activities run by private entities that focus on either the collective interests of their members or the broader economic and social good (or both), putting people and social goals ahead of capital.
The Spanish Social Economy Strategy 2017-2020 was developed and approved to address the need to recognise and promote the unique traits of Social Economy businesses and organisations in the EU Single Market, supporting them with programmes, projects, funds and a sustainable, innovative financial ecosystem, among other goals.
The drive to build on the goals set by this Strategy is reflected in the creation of the new Spanish Social Economy Strategy 2023-2027, a process that involved a thorough analysis of the current economic and social state of the Social Economy, which guided the identification of strategic priorities, action plans and measures that shape the new Strategy presented in this document.
